State-of-the-Art Eye Health and Vision Exams

At Battleground Eye Care, you will receive an eye exam probably unlike any you have had before. We do much more than just check your vision and get a glasses prescription. Our exams are thoroughly comprehensive and employ computerized state-of-the-art eye equipment to maximize efficiency. We find that our extensive use of technology and highly trained staff allows the doctors to spend more one-on-one time with our patients, rather than just collecting data.

We offer the following for your Eye Health and Vision Exam:

• Visual field screening – detects presence of glaucoma, macular degeneration, stroke, tumors, and other neurological problems.

• Glaucoma testing – YAY, NO AIR PUFF! Our eye pressure device accurately measures your eye pressure without the dreaded puff of air.

• Retinal photos and OCT Scans – Highly recommended for every patient. These additional tests are performed with two devices, a high resolution, wide image digital camera and a non-invasive optical CT scan of the retina. This helps the doctor to find underlying retinal disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, detachments, diabetes, and many others. Results are reviewed on the exam room computers with the doctor.

• Anterior segment photos – when certain eye disease and injuries are present, high resolution digital photos of the front of the eye aid in treatment and further management.

• Complete Biomicroscopic Exam of the outer and inner eye to check for diseases such as dry eyes, blepharitis, contact lens complications, and cataracts.

• Refraction(eyeglass prescription) – computer assisted for accuracy

• Dilation when necessary to check for retinal disease such as glaucoma, vitreous and retinal detachments, cancers, and complications from disease such as diabetes, hypertension, and Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) therapy. With our advanced imaging and retinal scan technology, dilation may not be necessary.

• Blood pressure check – For patients over 40

• Contact lens fitting – upon request, if appropriate.

• We also use other specialty testing equipment such as corneal topography and pachymetry to treat and manage eye disease. Children also receive color vision and depth perception testing.
